We are delighted to share a new course by Professor Bagele Chilisa.

In this free online course on Indigenous research and evaluation methodologies, you can explore approaches that challenge dominant research and evaluation paradigms and support relational, culturally responsive, and decolonising ways of researching with people, communities, and their stories.

The course also provides opportunities for you to reflect on the ethics, politics, and practice implications of your work and strengthen skills in research and evaluation as liberatory practices.

Bagele has designed the course to be relevant for practitioner researchers, community workers, program evaluators, development partners working with communities, and graduate research students.

It’s a unique course where you will:

·        view a series of videos filmed with NPRN members in Bagele’s garden in Gaborone, Botswana

·        read interviews and articles by Bagele and other distinguished Indigenous scholars

·        learn about contexts where Indigenous research and evaluation have been applied

·        and relate the content to your own context and research and evaluation projects.

All the resources are available at no cost. You can start and work through the course whenever suits you and at your own pace.

Optional certification module with feedback from Professor Chilisa

Those who wish may extend their engagement with the online course by undertaking an optional certification module. This involves recording reflections on the course content and writing a short essay that Bagele will personally respond to. Participants will also attend a small group Zoom discussion with Bagele.

There is a US$150 fee for this optional module. Further information: here.
