The Narrative Practice Research Network is excited to be launching a special issue of The Qualitative Report exploring the generative possibilities of applying narrative therapy and community work to the theory and practice of research. The NPRN has curated and developed this collection of articles, which began with a symposium in Adelaide in December 2023.

Throughout the month of December 2024, TQR will be publishing a rich and diverse collection of papers by NPRN members who are applying narrative therapy’s critical poststructuralist perspectives to generating new knowledge, understandings and analyses through qualitative research. Papers explore practice-based research, research interviews, insider research, decolonizing ethics and methodologies, and lots more.
We will be celebrating the launch of this significant new collection and engaging in conversation with the authors about the many confluences of narrative therapy and qualitative research.
Before the launch event, you are invited to read two of the introductory papers: Qualitative research meets narrative therapy and community work: A confluence of practice and politics and Time travelling with Ron Chenail, Sally St. George, Dan Wulff, and David Denborough: An interview about the connecting histories of family therapy, narrative therapy, and qualitative research
TQR is a Q1 open-access peer-reviewed journal dedicated to developing qualitative, critical and collaborative research. It has a long history of engagement with family therapy and narrative practice. If you would like to receive the papers in this special collection, along with additional commentary, you can sign up to their free email newsletter here.
